Navigating Productivity with Anxiety

Do you ever get the feeling that all you want to do is lay in bed and watch Netflix all day? Sure you do, I know I do. It’s okay to do this occasionally but when it affects your day-to-day life with school and your social life it can become a problem.

You may not want to get out of bed because your classes are hard or you’re nervous and worried about something happening that day. Here are a few ways that you can stay motivated and be productive on the days that you just want to lay in bed.

When anxiety impacts our ability to be productive we can find ourselves in situations where we are procrastinating, having difficulty focusing, and having self-doubt.

For me, when I find myself feeling unmotivated it’s usually because I’m focused on a big task or worrying about the future. One thing that can help with this is setting small goals for yourself. When you tackle your goals one step at a time it becomes easier to process.

This might sound weird but believe it or not, it helps. Just sitting alone for a minute telling yourself that you can do it and practicing positive self-talk can help encourage and motivate you. Time management can also help. Having a planner or calendar can motivate you to stay on top of things.

The next time you lay in bed and watch Netflix all day, think about what you can do to keep yourself motivated and pull yourself out of that slump.

  2. I sometimes fine that if a task I know I need to do but is something that makes me anxious, I will put it off as long as I can.
