Discussing Anxiety Can Actually Be Helpful
By Hannah Haslett
When you’re feeling overwhelmed with stress and anxiety, sometimes all you need is someone to comfort you and assure you that everything is going to work out.
Before you feel up to confiding in someone for comfort, you might have to tell them what you’re feeling and this isn’t the easiest thing to do. Here are a few ways that you can tell your friends and family about anxiety to help them understand.
Before you tell someone how you’re feeling, make sure to ask yourself if you truly trust them with this information. After that, be prepared for different responses. Be super honest and blunt with whoever you’re sharing your anxiety with. This can emphasize the fact that it’s important and in that moment, they need to listen to how you’re feeling.
It can be tough to explain to someone how anxiety feels to someone who has no idea what it’s like. It becomes easier when you take that first step in telling someone how you feel and putting your trust in them.
Once you find this person that you can confide in and trust, make sure they know you, This sounds pretty obvious but what I mean by this is that make sure they know what helps you. Whether it’s giving you advice, distracting you, or comforting you.
Although you might feel uncomfortable sharing your thoughts with someone else, it can be very helpful and beneficial to your mood and mental health.

I agree, its so important to let "that stuff" (for lack of better term) out into the air. It prevents it from bottling up inside.
ReplyDeleteI always feel that talking about my anxiety and what is stressing me out, helps relieve some stress.
