Are cell phones helping or hurting your anxiety?
By Hannah Haslett
We are obviously in a world dominated by social media and technology. For the sake of our mental health, sometimes this isn’t always the best for us.
Things such as FOMO and comparing ourselves to others on the internet can affect our mental health more than we know. Many of us are glued to our phones and whether we like it or not, we need to find ways to regulate our media usage and use self-control when it comes to using our phones.
As we all know, what we see on the internet isn’t always true, But, it can be hard to understand that sometimes. If we see a picture of a group of people hanging out and it looks like they’re having the best time ever we might get a little jealous (I know I do). In reality, it’s most likely not as good as it looks.
We all try to put the best versions of ourselves on the internet. At the end of the day, we’re all human and we all have bad days and not everything is always sunshine and rainbows.
On the other hand, NOT having our phones causes anxiety. So basically, we can never win. When you do have your phone, you feel like you’re always missing something which causes anxiety.
When you find yourself comparing yourself to others on the internet, just remember that everything is not what it seems.

Great topic! I was just talking to my dad about this the other day.
ReplyDeleteI have always believed that social media can damage our mindset.
