A Dive into Why You Should go to Therapy

By Hannah Haslett

Many people feel as if therapy is for the weak and think that it’s embarrassing. For me, I think therapy is for the strong. Therapy is where you go when you want help or guidance, and strong people always want to improve and that's what therapy does. Therapy is for everyone.

I haven’t been to therapy since I was pretty little, but I do think that it’s beneficial when you find the right therapist. If you have been to therapy or want to see a therapist, please understand that you might not find the right therapist for you right off the bat and that’s okay.

Understand that it’s okay to switch therapists and it doesn’t make you a bad person, it just means that you haven’t found the right therapist that fits your needs.

Those who want to go to therapy but are reluctant tend to come up with excuses not to go. Time and money are huge factors for everything, not just going to therapy. Understandably, we have to manage our money carefully and some things take priority over others.

But, we’re not all truly that busy. We all have the same 24 hours each day, it’s about how you use that time and your priorities. Your mental health should always take priority over anything. Without your mental health, you will struggle with doing everything else.

You should never be ashamed or embarrassed for wanting to improve. We should all want to improve every single day. If therapy is the improvement you need in your life, then you should do it.
